El-rufai, EU Ambassador Declare Open Kaduna Books And Arts Festival

Kaduna State Governor,Malam Nasir El-Rufai, European Union ambassador to Nigeria and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS),Michel Arrion, along other dignitaries on Tuesday attended the opening of the maiden edition of the Kaduna Books and Arts Festival, (KABAFEST).

In his address at the event which held at Arewa House,Kaduna, El-Rufai said the festival is one of the initiatives within his creative arts programme which devoted to nurturing,promoting and celebrating the creative potential of the state.

El-rufai, noted that the festival would also create jobs and wealth for the people.

The governor added that:” It is a manifesto commitment of this government to support the  arts,creativity and our creatives themselves. As one of the largest states in the country,Kaduna is an epitome of diversity,from cultures and languages to landscape. This variety is a blessing,and the interaction of these cultures enriches us all. Literature and other forms of the arts contribute immensely to helping us understand one another better”

In December 2015,President Muhammadu Buhari declared open the Kaduna Music Festival (KADAMFEST). Over two days,KADAMFEST brought musicians from across the country to Kaduna State,showcasing new and established talent to enthusiastic reception. This festival will continue in revised format,showing Kaduna to the world and the World to Kaduna”

On his part, Michel Arrion,European Union ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, commended Kaduna State government for organising the book and arts festival and promised to support writers, stressing that he would miss Nigeria as he prepares return home.
